Touch Reactive – I Know Jones (2025) – Album Review

Review: Touch Reactive by I Know Jones

Touch Reactive1 is vibrant album by I Know Jones that teleports me in a multitude of directions all at once. The best way to describe this album is much like spinning the dial on the radio, except I’m surfing through different decades of my life. One moment I’m listening to the neon glow of a vintage synth, the next, I’m being shifted into those rave inspired shots of adrenaline that moves me from the listening experience to a physical experience. Just when the nostalgia of one track becomes familiar, the next track shifts to another decade of my life.
It’s rare to find an artist that’s able to represent so many different eras of music while maintaining a distinct style unique to I Know Jones. The rhythmic chopping of breaks playing off each sample feels intentional rather than lucky. While the synths and samples swirl around different decades, the 808s are a gravitational force that keeps everything held tightly together.
This album provides a unique signature sound for I Know Jones, one that plays with your memory, where every track feels loved from a past life. It defies a single genre or label because the style is a collage of the last 50 years of electronic subculture. I really can’t get over how different, yet seemingly familiar, each track feels. I was trying to figure out which track I liked “the most”, but I ended up just listening to the album two more times. Much like the album’s artwork, where every unique pixel occupies its own space to create a larger image, each track fits together, making this album whole.
