10 Albums to Check Out This Bandcamp Friday

Bandcamp Friday is upon us once again, our favorite nearly-favorite monthly holiday that proves that not every corporation is completely evil and that there may be hope for underground music yet. There certainly is, considering the absolute avalanche of sterling releases hitting inboxes and fan clubs this Friday, March 6. Ital Tek’s outtakes in honor of the 10th anniversary of his legendary Hollowed from 2016 is probably the biggest news, but don’t stop there. There’s a delicious re-issue of a rare early industrial cassette from Staalplaat, rough-soldered industrial techno on Perc Trax, and some absolutely fascinating Philly hip-hop from Ghais Guevara. No matter what you’re into, you’re sure to find something you’ll like in this month’s batch.

10 Albums to Check Out This Bandcamp Friday

ANON – MMXXV (Mortality Tables)

MMXXV is the latest volume in the mighty Mortality Tables’ impermanence series, longform ambient drifts pressed to CD in batches of 20, each one having a dried, pressed flower from the summer of 2025. Every issue of the impermanence series is different, ranging from 52 to 58 minutes from a producer who remains anonymous until the final moments. The excerpt on Bandcamp, titled “Oak,” features a field recording of an academic lecture about the German poet Goethe isn’t much of a clue to the producer’s identity, so you’ll have to listen to the whole thing to find out who’s behind these ethereal, otherworldly soundscapes.

♾️🔳- 01000110 01000001 01010100 01001000 01000101 01010010 (Iyaka)

Dreamy ambient reverie from elusive UK producer, 01000110 01000001 01010100 01001000 01000101 01010010 is binary for ‘Father,’ but it sounds like a Fender Rhodes singing and murmuring itself to sleep while floating on its back in the Dead Sea, lost and staring at the stars.

Cora – Ei Blot Til Lyst, Spontaneous Opera (Staaplaat)

Reissue of a cassette from legendary industrial label Staalplaat’s Confrontation Series finds Cora Emens channeling field recordings of early ‘80s NYC through crude early home electronics, sounding like a Commodore 64 opening a portal to the haunted back alleys of Tron. Spooky and haunting, yet somehow soothing, this gem from the ‘80s industrial cassette underground deserves to be heard by a much wider audience.

Fritz & De Murcia – Folgespiel (SØVN Records)

First collaboration between electroacoustic composers/producers Sven Fritz, a.k.a. German producer Ervin Omsk, and Amédée De Murcia, the French producer behind Somaticae adopt the tools of surrealism to create an album of light, gauzy, tranquil, ethereal electroacoustic ambient noise. A chance meeting on a sewing table between a table lamp, a harp, and a grand piano falling down a stairwell.

Ghais Guevara – Goyard & the Kayfabe Reveal (Self-Released)

Ghais Guevara’s followup to last year’s Goyard Ibn Said is dense as a modernist novel yet still manages to be light as an ostrich feather. Goyard & the Kayfabe Reveal takes the Philly MC’s mystical science and wraps it in shawls of field recordings and deep spiritual jazz, sounding like astral knowledge being channeled through a drier in your garage. Pick this one up and obsess over it until the next Bandcamp Friday.

Ital Tek – Hollowed (10th Anniversary Bonus Tracks) (Ninja Tune)

In honor of its 10th Anniversary, Ital Tek releases a towering batch of outtakes from 2016’s legendary Hollowed on Ninja Tune, one of the peaks of his illustrious career. It’s frankly insane he left this much music on the cutting room floor. You could fill a box set with these bangers! The Hollowed bonus tracks potentially sound fresher today than they did when the album was first released.

Lil’ Nahūatl – Brain Xtrakts 01 EP (As’teka Nahuatl)

Three rough-riding, galloping techno barnstormers on the British imprint As’teka Nahuatl verge on gabber territory without becoming clobbering or overdone. Subtle, tasty, and tasteful while still kicking as hard as a Palomino.

Quinteplus – Quinteplus (Vampisoul)

Reissue of the rare self-titled debut from the Argentinian jazz supergroup on the mighty Vampisoul reissue label falls somewhere between hep and cool, somehow bringing to mind Miles Davis’ struttin’ hard bop, Kind of Blue cool, and even a hint of Sketches of Spain’s royalty. Lush and ornate yet streamlined and swingin’, Quinteplus will make you feel like you’re driving in an aquamarine ‘50s Cadillac with the windows down.

Scholars of the Peak – The Seawatch Observatory Tapes (Preston Capes)

The Seawatch Observatory Tapes is Scholars of the Peaks’ debut offering for Woodford Halse sister label Preston Capes. Billing themselves as “an electronic rolling hill from the High Peak of the District. Primarily using software synthesis, guitars, church bells & field recordings,” The Seawatch Observatory Tapes sounds like a modular synth rig set up in some remote, desolate marine weather observatory that may or may not be on the edges of Area X. Soothing yet somehow oddly menacing.

Arjun Vagale – Reckless (Perc Trax)

The undisputed king of India’s underground techno scene debuts on Perc Trax for their first single release of 2026. “Reckless” is five minutes of guttering, shuddering locked-in techno, hard-charging grooves lost in a labyrinth of dead motherboards and bad solder jobs. Hypnotic and fierce, “Reckless” is destined to ruin concrete floors the world over.
