For now it’ll have to settle for ensconce-ment on best of 2026 roster. Oh, the tears. 

A few years back some mega-talented chefs in Charleston, SC served us their take on the food science juggernaut that is “Crunch Wrap Supreme”.  It ruled so hard, TB’s bell is STILL ringing. 

Until now, topping that experience seemed impossible. 

To hear is to believe. To see is to know.

Most of us still fetishize duality. This vs. that is the slippery slope with too many bodies piled beneath it. 

Old Heads and Nerds are often publicly mocked for romanticizing the A/B sides of collectible ‘plastic crack’. 

Luckily for us, with true humility nothing is ever really lost. 

This PUX album seems to have flown under the 2026 radar. Doesn’t matter tho, cuz it’s a HIT made by a Master at the top of their craft.  

It’s the most tender of sonic laments with a rippling ultra-funky crust, like none-other. Even those who can’t locate the beat over there will find it right freaking here. 

While corporately shellacked phantoms gas on about vulnerability/transparency, this one actually lays it all on the carpet. 

Or maybe when the bubble drone-zone bounce finally reveals itself half way in, this is actually the camera pulling back to reveal a mesmerizing exterior, deftly obscuring the full  scale blowout raging inside each of us. 

Either way one would be wise to have their earthly belongings securely stowed and ready for the transporter.

Album: Hidden Hand

This album is pure filthy from start to stop. 

If one doesn’t know what that means, Hidden Hand is a perfect place to start the (re)education process. 

It feels like a (fully consensual) electrical ear spanking that started as the best fan fiction but grew into something even better.

As with most of today’s (best) Hardcore and Crust Punk – where paying unabashed homage to ‘the classics’ is mandatory – and legitimacy/authenticity is determined by how well a band’s sound+message both generates and transfers the power of that ‘original blueprint’ to the audience – with sonic innovation typically kept to a minimum, but still totally crucial. ØBSRVR serves up track after track of classically funky bangers that move the envelope the perfect amount and not one click more. 

Or think of it like a Canadian Tuxedo, where for the unrefined palate there’s just too much consistency but for those who know shit, it’s one of the hardest looks to pull off really well. 

The foundational secret appears to come from making stiff-ass sounding machines swing. 

Playing and setting up killer shows around PDX and the West Coast on the semi-regular. 

Figure out when/where to get your wig pushed back by checking the insta-dropzone or having friends with good taste.

Album: Quantum Pulsation X

One may think one knows about music and art – then they discover the ever expanding legacy of KK Null. 

Actually the whole notion of ‘musical excellence’ can basically step-the-fuck-off in light of what this Entity is manifesting. 

This is the closest any mammal has come to unifying the molecular wave/particle duality with energies they’ve shaped by hand/hoof/snout/tooth and machine. 

Best of 2026 doesn’t even begin to scratch it. 

Null-sama’s already released 9 albums and 2 (?) books this year. Apparently all home recorded/self published too. 

For fun, start anywhere in their catalog from 2009 forward and let the crystalline transmissions dissolve your ego one granule at a time. (Note; there’s 20+ years of work prior to that as well, but save it for another lifetime).

The sheer breadth of their electro-sonic mystery is beyond reason. It’s truly from another dimension.

And somehow it’s still funky.
